Dental Implants in Quakers Hill

A dental implant is a titanium post placed in the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once integrated with the bone, a crown is attached to restore the appearance and function of a missing tooth. Implants are a long-term tooth replacement option for suitable candidates.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a titanium post placed in the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once integrated with the bone, a crown is attached to restore the appearance and function of a missing tooth.

Unlike dentures or bridges, an implant replaces both the root and the crown of a missing tooth, so healthy neighbouring teeth don’t need to be altered.

What implant treatment involves

1

Assess

Preliminary assessment includes X-rays, digital scans, and a review of your bone volume and oral health. Any decay, gum disease, or infection is treated first.

2

Place the implant

The titanium post is placed in the jawbone under local anaesthetic. A healing period follows while the implant integrates with the bone, typically three to six months.

3

Fit the crown

Once integration is confirmed, an abutment is attached and a custom crown is fabricated and fitted, designed to match your surrounding teeth.

Questions about implants

Suitability depends on the volume and density of the jawbone at the implant site, your overall oral and general health, and any conditions or medications that may affect healing. We conduct a thorough assessment before recommending implants, and where they’re not appropriate, we discuss alternatives.
After the implant is placed, a healing period of typically three to six months allows it to integrate with the bone before the crown is fitted. We give you a clearer timeframe after your assessment.
With good oral hygiene and regular maintenance, implants can last many years. We show you how to care for your implant and monitor it at your regular visits.

Nervous about the surgery?

Most of an implant case is planning, not surgery. Come in for the assessment and we’ll walk you through each stage before you decide anything.

About implant photos

Implant cases take months and the photographs need to be honest about that. We only publish before-and-after images of implants we’ve placed, and only where the patient has given written consent.

At an assessment we can show you the scans and the stages of a case we’ve completed, including how long each part took.

Healing time and bone response vary between people. Nothing here is a guarantee of outcome.
