Gum Disease Treatment in Quakers Hill

Gum disease is one of the most common oral health conditions in Australia, and one of the most overlooked. In its early stages it causes no pain and few visible signs, yet without treatment it can progress to damage the bone and tissue supporting your teeth. Our team can assess and treat gum disease at any stage.

What is gum disease?

Gum disease (periodontal disease) is a bacterial infection of the gum tissue and, in advanced cases, the supporting structures of the teeth. It begins as gingivitis (inflammation, redness, and bleeding of the gums) and can progress to periodontitis, which involves bone loss.

Early-stage gum disease is reversible with professional treatment and improved home care. More advanced periodontitis requires more involved treatment, though it can be managed effectively to prevent further progression.

How we treat gum disease

1

Assess

We examine your gums, measure the pockets around your teeth, and determine the stage of gum disease.

2

Treat

Gingivitis is treated with a professional clean and improved home care. Advanced disease is treated with scaling and root planing under local anaesthetic to clean below the gumline.

3

Maintain

Most patients benefit from more frequent maintenance visits with our oral health therapist to monitor the condition and prevent progression.

Research has found associations between periodontal disease and conditions including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and pregnancy complications. Maintaining healthy gums may contribute to broader health outcomes.
