Sleep Apnoea Treatment in Quakers Hill
Dentists play a role in the management of snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea through custom mandibular advancement splints. These devices are worn during sleep and work by gently repositioning the lower jaw to keep the airway open. We fit them in collaboration with your GP or sleep physician as part of a broader management plan.
How can a dentist help with sleep apnoea?
Dentists help manage snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea through custom mandibular advancement splints (MAS), worn during sleep to gently reposition the lower jaw and keep the airway open.
A CPAP machine is the first-line treatment for moderate to severe apnoea, but many patients find it difficult to tolerate long-term. A MAS is often recommended as an alternative for mild to moderate cases, or for patients who can’t use CPAP. We work in conjunction with your GP or sleep physician.
